Maasai people live in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are a nomadic population of about 880,000 people; whose main economic activity is cattle, sheep and goat shepherding.
Maasai wealth depends on the number of cattle they have. Families possess an average of ten goats, cows and sheep. Cattle is so important that villages are designed in circles, in order to protect them from predators. Around the central circle, women build igloo-shaped huts, made of mud, branches and protected by a second layer of thorns.
